Early Iterations

Initial inspirational sketch for the Museum Orientation

There were some iterations where the set would take place in a modular environment rather than a black box theater.

A pair of curved cycs were considered as projection surfaces

Dealing with the “In-the-round” aspect meant finding a way to place projection surfaces on at least two ends of the space while still giving actors and audience space to move around.

There was also a limitation in the quality of projectors needed to cover that much space.

The seating bank was required to remain in the space. This inspired a screen to be placed on the balcony to create height.

A few iterations of the seating bank projection surfaces were debated on. Ultimately we created a series of ‘sails.’

With this setup, I began thinking about the beats one would take as they entered the unusual space…
